Jiro's Sayings

If you think you can’t, there’s not a chance in the world you will. So give it a shot. And you will see: when you drive yourself into a corner, a really tight one, that’s when new ideas come rushing in.

"There are tons of incredible guys running miles ahead. There is no way I can beat them". You think so? Don't. Sometimes you try and it turns out that you were not the last but… the first.

What is it that we have? Something not many can boast of? We have energy, we have a dream, a passion that says: "We are here to create! Create something no one has ever thought of!"

Making something that does not yet exist. Something no one has ever tried.
Let the thrill of it get you, and you’ll crave the feeling. Crave it for the rest of your life.

Success does not come from a big bag of money invested. It comes from dreams and passion of each and every one in the team.

"But we don't have this, we don't have that. How in the world can we…?"
Don't let your thoughts slide this way. Excuses only freeze your wits.

Sometimes experience is an obstacle to ingenuity.
(Experience and knowledge are simply not enough to invent on. You'll see that you'll need your intuition, a somewhat ignorant boldness of an amateur).

History can teach you many things, but it can't tell you the future: tomorrow is more than a mere sequel of today.
And that's exactly why "tomorrow" is so much fun.

When you can't see more than a few paces ahead, don't force your eyes in the dark. Just concentrate on the path right in front of you, put all your strength in each and every step. And think. You'll be amazed, how far you'll see.

When you are running second, it's time to sprint after the first.
But when you've overtaken him and are running top, it's time to forget the gains, forget the fight and develop your products as a human – with a strong sense of moral duty.

Treasure your losses: vexation is your greatest springboard.

Don't say "no" to your client's requests. Just think harder.

Recessions and troubles are the very times to exercise your wits, they are your greatest chances.

Dreams are your best laid plans.

Sales are meaningless, if you are only selling things.

When you hit a dead end, think your way out, struggle out of it through trial and error. The know-how you’ll acquire in the process will be your treasure.
